Recent Eats at Faux Pasta West Coast HQ ( From Left to Right)

Rather than spam you with like, 8 different posts, I just combined them all together.

  • Roasted root vegetables w/wild rice and tahini-balsamic dressing (looked terrible, tasted decent) from David Leibovitz
  • New resealable salad bowl container from Crate & Barrel Outlet (love it, use it all the time, $12, worth it.)
  • Creamed baked cauliflower with aged Gouda & thyme (unbaked)
  • Same as above, baked
  • Lots and lots of salad and avocados
  • Lots of homemade pizza (early attempt, so-so crust)
  • Ribs (SO DELICIOUS at home. Really didn’t think this was something I could do with just a regular charcoal Weber grill. Dry rubbed, 2 hours on low in the oven, finished off on the grill with a brush of BBQ sauce. We polished off 2.5 pounds between the two of us).
  • Avocado, Tillamook sharp cheddar, spicy salami “paninis” and classic homemade tomato soup (sour cream dollop, a dollop of Daaaiiissyy)
  • Kabocha butter — this Japanese squash lends itself really well to purees - buttery and very smooth. Processed with almond milk, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, and a little salt with half a lemon’s juice.

Not pictured: kabocha risotto, random cottage cheese spoonfuls, hint ‘o lime tostitos, grilled marinated tri-tip, homemade flour tortillas, etc.

Edited to say: I didn’t do this all in one week, y’all. It does look cool all patchworked together as though I have a team of assistants at my disposal, no?

Deep fried burger, anyone?

Lotteria Japan is now offering an Omi Beef Menchi Katsu burger. Made from high-grade Japanese Omi beef from Shiga prefecture, which some argue is better than Kobe beef, this burger is then breaded with panko and deep fried! Topped with cabbage and steak sauce, it also sits on a base of second sauce made from miso & mustard. Yours for only 580 yen, which is about seven bucks!

A huge mermaid welcome to our new star the Lobster Pot Pie $27 - served every Wednesday night during our *Winter Lobster Love Fest* - and here’s a little secret from the Chef… there is a whole pound and a quarter of lobster meat in that little beauty. You’re welcome.

Looks like this gem has been making the rounds courtest of Boing Boing. How did I miss it?
